AIA Survey Reports Energy Efficiency Is Still Very Popular

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) have found some key green findings from the Home Design Trends survey for the second quarter of 2011.  These results come from a panel of about 500 residential architectural firms that comment on trends in consumer preferences in the markets they serve.  The only green area that experienced significant declines in interest were interior greenhouses, and special function rooms such as media rooms/home theaters, pet rooms/interior kennels, and storm/safe rooms. Consumer interest in products promoting energy efficiency were the most popular green home related products. Features as simple as extra insulation or using alternative insulation techniques were very popular. Other energy efficient products on the list included high performance windows, tankless water heaters, water-saving and conserving devices, and reclaimed or salvaged materials.
